Founded and operated by Adam Hunt and luthier Brian Kirkner and based in Scotch Plains, New Jersey; Manitou Guitars specializes in finely handcrafted guitar & bass builds and stringed instrument repairs.
Since 2017, we have been building up our shop with the specialized tools and environment that a modern, full-service luthiery facility requires. A confluence of several factors led us to be operational in 2020, specifically the conditions were finally right for Brian Kirkner to leave his position as a guitar tech for a major instrument retailer, where he had up until that point worked for over 5 years.
Brian graduated from the Minnesota State College - Southeast Tech luthiery program in 2011, then became a guitar tech shortly thereafter, and is grateful for his time as a top-performing technician for 2 major instrument retailers.
Acoustic and electric guitars and basses, banjos, mandolins, violins, requintos, ouds – if it has strings, we work fix it!
